Just figured out how to fix this.

Was a bug in the template code, \themes\default\index.php line 218

change
<?php if ($totalPages>0) { ?>
to
<?php if ($totalPages>1) { ?>

And it will only display the "jump to page" text when there is 1 or more pages rather than 0 or more pages.
