how to manipulate chmod 777 and how to add search term

Hi, all

I have to question here:

1. My hosting do not allowed chmod 777. what can i do to manipulate (or ...i do ot know technical terms for this :) ) it? I have changed cache file in 777, but error happen: it shown that i had not changed the chmod to become 777.

2. How to catch search term from search engines and ebay search, save it in database and list it popular or latest on page?
