You can set the cache timeout to 0 seconds. By doing this, the cache file would still be written, but the next time a page is loaded, the cache would not be used.

This is the setting to change to not use the items cache.
$site["CACHE_ITEMS_TIME"]

If you want to not use the keyword cache, change this to 0. But I would really recommend against that.
$site["CACHE_KEYWORD_TIME"]

Caching is meant to do 3 things.

1) Speed up the page load times. By not having to query ebay on every page load, your site is a ton faster.

2) Reduce the amount of bandwidth each site needs. When McJiffy queries ebay, it is using your bandwidth. So using the cache reduces your used bandwidth and can possibly save you money on your hosting account (that all depends on how you are billed)

3) Reduce the usage on ebay's API. Ebay does have usage restrictions on their api. You are only given so many queries per month. McJiffy uses the ebay api to grab the related keywords. These keywords do not change often, so they are ideal for caching. If the script didn't cache, you could possible use up all your api credits and then your site wouldn't be as affective.

There are two types of caches in McJiffy. The first stories the item search RSS in your cache directory. This includes the product listings. The second cache is for the related keywords. Both cache files are stored as xml documents. Just open up one of your cache files and you can see how the data is formatted.

I was asking because I got a warning from my webhost that my site was
using an excessive number of files, and I realized that my cache had
grown to a tremendous size. I am using the first version and see that the
new version automatically deletes files from the cache after a certain
amount of time has expired, will have to switch my sites over to the new
version and see what happens.
